Hi there! I have been transitioning to mostly raw for about 2 months now, with my husband and trying my best to include our 2 teenage kids. I found out about raw around July because our whole family has Celiac disease and we seemed to keep getting 'glutened' by packaged GF items. I was simply tired as hell of feeling sick and out of a control of my body and my health. Since August, I have lost about 15 pounds and feel great. My husband turned up with Gout in July also, so the raw diet with NO grains has helped him immensely. He is making slower progress---but progress nonetheless. The kids are MUCH harder to convince to get off of cooked food---so I still have to make them toast, GF pasta, eggs, etc. But they still do get a lot of raw desserts and salads and green drinks
Going GF 5 years ago lost us most of our friends and dinner invites---now going raw has scared the rest away. Any advice on how to deal with people who like to 'mother' you? As in wanting to always feed you 'their' food and get you off of any special diet you are on?? With the holidays coming up and my mother-in-law moving back who used to LOVE to overfeed us with her super sugary fattening foods----I want to be prepared to confidently stick to raw and not get sick----because pretty much every year since going GF we get sick from Thanksgiving until the 'food' holidays are over!!
Any other people on here with Celiac Disease who have found relief from all those nagging, minute contamination symptoms from packaged GF foods?
Glad I found this site!
