WHY ARE YOU A HEALTH HERO (A HEALTH-CONSCIOUS BEING WHO CARES)?

I lost around 11stone with a raw food lifestyle and my life has been completely
transformed on every level. I now devote my life and energy to sharing my message of
natural recovery from obesity, to help inspire others reclaim their health. Overweight
and obesity issues affect the majority of people in our society now and the consequences
are many-fold. From myriad related health problems to strains on relationships to ?lost?
working days, the impact of this obesity epidemic is far-reaching. Most people do not
seem to seek sustainable solutions for this ? opting instead for slimming pills or diets
they go ?on? with the intention to go ?off? again at some point, or even bariatric
surgery. I have been raw for four and a half years and am a living example that there is
a natural way to reverse obesity. My website -  www.rawreform.com - has been up for 3
years, sharing my story and providing guidance for others on this path. I sell e-books,
write articles, give lectures and consultations and hold retreats about weight loss with
raw foods.

WHAT DO YOU EAT AND 'DO' IN YOUR 'TYPICAL' DAY?

My eating patterns have changed a lot over the last 4.5 years raw. These days, my main
interest is green foods and I typically eat in a time-window between about 11.30am and
7pm. It doesn?t feel good to my body to consume things early in the morning or late at
night. (whereas in my pre-raw days, it was more like if I was awake, I was eating ;)
I usually start the day with either a simple fruit meal or a big green juice (e.g.
romaine lettuce, spinach, cucumber, celery). Around 1pm I?ll have my main meal of the
day, which is a big salad ? lots of greens, grated carrots, radishes, red peppers, lime
juice, avocado etc. I?ll usually follow that with a little of smthg sweet ? like some raw
chocolate. Then in the evening I?ll make a green smoothie ? a blend of fruits with leafy
greens like lettuce, spinach, coriander, parsley, etc. In this way, I get chlorophyll
into my body at every meal, which feels really great to me.
When I wake in the mornings, I pray, meditate, do yoga and read some inspiring
literature. Then I get to work. I work a lot on my computer, writing content for my
website, handling email enquiries, giving consultations, writing books and so on. In
between work, I get out into the air and nature as much as possible ? jogging in the park
daily, drinking my juice out in the sun, nipping out for a quick bounce on the rebounder
and so on. I love spending quality time with raw friends, engaging in eye gazing or great
conversation or sharing yummy meals together.

DO YOU EXERCISE? WHAT?

Yes, I do yoga every morning (the Five Tibetan Rites) and have recently started jogging
daily too. I?m running about 2 miles a day, with some pull-up practice in the middle. I
used to be a great runner as a child, before I became obese ? I am really enjoying
re-discovering this activity again. I also LOVE rebounding ? I think that?s my favourite
form of exercise. Dancing, hiking and biking all do it for me too.

WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 HEALTH (RAW/LIVE) FOODS?

Hmmmmmmmmm?wow, that?s a hard one?let?s see?

1.        durian (Huge, divine south-east asian fruit that smells like sewers but tastes
like heaven.)
2.        spirulina ? I love greeeeeeeeens and spirulina is the tastiest for me.
3.        Sunflower greens ? tasty little shoots grown from sunflower seeds ? so
alive-feeling and packed with nutrients.

WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE TO HELP AND INSPIRE YOUR BIGGEST FAN?

TAKE THE TRANSITION TO RAW SLOWLY. I see sooooo many people dive head-first into a very
high-raw lifestyle, with huge enthusiasm at the beginning, then after a few months get
disillusioned as the detox symptoms really kick in and ?fall off the wagon?. I would so
much rather see someone start out at 50% raw for example and work their way up from
there, incorporating more raw foods as it feels good, to make this sustainable. This is
all about a real lifestyle change for me, not a quick-fix fad. So, start out at least 50%
raw (by the weight of the food, not volume) and be gentle with yourself. Do be vigilant
to remove the most toxic foods from your intake as soon as possible however ? all
processed starches and refined sugars. Remove these and simply EAT MORE RAW :) you will
soon start to notice massive improvements to your energy, weight and whole well-being.
