Awakenings in Arizona
I have been extremely blessed to spend the last month on retreat in
glorious Arizona. This is the first time in five years that I am not in
a cold climate for autumn and winter and I have sooo appreciated that.
I feel like I really thrive in the warmth and it feels so natural and
healing for me to be in this kind of climate.
My month in Arizona started with the fabulous Raw Spirit Fest
in Sedona, from Oct 6th-8th. This was a tribal gathering of raw beings
from all over the States and beyond. About 250 of us gathered in a
little valley surrounded by glorious huge red rocks, dramatic desert
sunsets and a sublime babbling river. Graced by the full moon at night
and the blazing desert sun by day, this was a truly magical event. It
was a wonderful treat to listen in to talks by long-term raw foodists
like Viktoras Kulvinskas and sun-gazer Hira Ratan Manek, sharing their
insights. I ran a RawReform booth for the weekend, selling printed
copies of the RawReform e-books and shared my story on stage. We were
all blessed by the presence of extraordinary raw-inspired musicians
sharing their amazing talents, from raw rap to classical harp to guitar
ballads and soothing, haunting flute/djembe/didge collaborations
The
catering for the festival was exceptional, especially considering there
was no electricity and no fridges in the open-air kitchen. Seven guest
chefs prepared an impressive array of gourmet feasts and we ate meals
together like one big family, blessing our food communally and giving
thanks for each meal. The energy in that little valley was extremely
high that weekend, as we buzzed and hummed on a blend of cacao, bliss
and joy at communion with like-minded beings. New friendships were
made, much inspiration was enjoyed and a lot of love was shared. The
festie will be back next year in September and is really something not
to be missed check out www.rawspiritfest.com for more info.
After the spectacular festival, I headed down to Patagonia and spent a few weeks hanging out near the equally inspiring Tree of Life Rejuvenation Centre.
This centre, established by Gabriel Cousens is a beautiful little haven
for vibrant living. It was a real joy to connect with the wonderful
people there, dedicating their lives to sharing the message of live
nutrition for healing. I really appreciated the love and commitment the
community there demonstrate for this lifestyle. I gave a speech at the
Tree of Life Café and sampled their legendary buffets, available daily
and open to the public. The centre also offers wonderful yoga classes
every day, which I enjoyed, along with educational classes and
spiritual gatherings. It was a wonderful area to visit and I especially
appreciated the clarity that being out in the desert brought for me,
far from city distractions.
To round up my month in the desert, I headed back up towards Prescott
to participate in an incredible raw hiking/fasting retreat into a
hidden magic canyon. By the light of the full moon, a happy tribe of
us walked in silence into an incredible, untouched wilderness to spend
a blissful weekend together. This was a deeply spiritual experience for
me, in silence and fasting with fellow raw beings in the desert, sans
electricity, sans shelter, sans any kind of modern convenience. I
foraged for wild wolfberries, bathed in the river, slept under the
radiant full moon on the sand, explored caves and met a tarantula out
walking
In silence and peace, I reached down deep into the depths of
me being, examining the truth of myself as my mind bubbled and jostled,
free from the distractions of everyday life
I emerged from the canyon
two days later renewed and refreshed, after a lot of inward
processing
a truly magical experience and the perfect way to round off
my adventures and joyful exploration in Arizona

Raw Gaia Skin Care and the benefits of MSM
It is important to remember that what we put ON our bodies can be just
as important for our health as what we put IN. For raw foodists, it can
be challenging to find an appealing skin care range, as most products
have processed ingredients as the base. The finest range I have
discovered so far for treating the skin with 100% organic, vegan, raw,
living ingredients is the sumptuous Raw Gaia
range. Handmade with love in the UK, the range is made using pure
virgin cacao butter as a base, never heated above 40 °C (104 F),
blended with top quality essential oils and other skin treats like MSM
powder (see below for more info on MSM). The result is a luxurious
range of deliciously soothing moisturizers, creams, lip balms, massage
bars and facial toners that truly nourish your skin and your entire
being
with gorgeous packaging and delightful product names such as for
her daughters and for her babies, these products feel truly
satisfying
mmmmmmmmmm LUSH :)
You can check out the Raw Gaia range at www.rawgaia.com.
MSM (Methyl sulphonyl methane)
MSM is an amazing healing substance. It is a sulphur compound that is
naturally found in all body cells and some of our most common foods.
Sulphur is an essential component for the formation of collagen, which
builds connective tissue. MSM provides huge support for the health of
skin, hair and nails.
Adequate levels of sulphur in the body promotes a radiant complexion,
glowing skin and mineralised hair. Therefore sulphur is called the
beauty mineral. As part of a skin care product, MSM promotes skin
elasticity, healing and repair. It can be extremely beneficial for
those losing weight to use MSM lotions directly on the skin to support
elasticity, reduce scarring and restructure tissue.
NEW MSM LOTIONS HAVE JUST BEEN ADDED TO THE RAWREFORM ONLINE STORE.
