My CNN News Story

As you may already have seen, on September the 23rd, CNN News in the US premiered a 2-minute video with me about my 160lb raw food weight loss story. This story was repeated various times that week, as well as added to the internet, along with an article about my story too. This piece attracted more than 2 MILLION viewers in the first week alone, making it the BIGGEST Health story on CNN so far this year – WOW :)

On the day it was released, it was THE most viewed story on CNN and also sent both my name and the search term 'Raw Food' into the top ten 'Hot Trend' things that people were searching for on Google (see HERE)...imagine, ALL these curious new minds investigating raw foods - YeEeeEeeeeeeee-HAH :)))  One of my old university friends, who now lives in the US, even wrote to celebrate with me that this story “clearly surpasses even US politics during election year! GO GIRL!!!”
LOL – FUN :)

CNN did SUCH nice work with it – all gratitude to Dr. Sanjay Gupta and his lovely helpers for having the courage to share the TRUTH about the healing nature of living a raw food lifestyle.
You can check out the article HERE and the video HERE.

Their article seemed to create quite a substantial buzzzzzzz about raw food, both online and beyond, which is so exciting to see. Countless blogs popped up all over the place discussing my raw food weight loss story and the concept of eating food straight from the Earth...The range of different sites presenting these articles is amazing – from ‘self-development’ sites, to vegetarian/vegan places, fashion/celebrity blogs, women's health sites, ‘hot trend’ outlets, die-t/weight loss sites, fitness blogs and so on...it’s fascinating to think of all the different ‘demographic groups’ who are tapping into this info now...

One consequence of the MASSIVE amount of traffic this all sent to RawReform was that it temporarily tripped the server out and the main RawReform site was down for over a WEEK, blown to pieces by all the interest ;) It was lovingly restored, thanks to some nice men who have well-developed left-brains for all those techie details – thanks, guys – and now I’m VERY happy to say that RawReform.com is fully back up again :)
You can check it out HERE (scroll down to the bottom of the front page and click the link, to skip the email sign-up ;) There are new pics up, updated videos and media area, plus you can check out the forum here if you’d love to connect with others...

The ‘Rawkathon’ starts on SUNDAY :)

OOOooooo, fun new FR@E raw food online event to play with...
Are you signed up for The ‘Rawkathon’ event yet? If not, you’re gonna miss out on some top-notch FR@E raw video interviews with yumsters like The Monarch, Gabriel Cousens, David Wolfe, Mike Adams, Victoria Boutenko, David Rain, Cherie Soria and many others...

This event is the brain-child of Mr. Renegade Health, Kevin Gianni. Rather than audio interviews like the Raw Summit before, this time Kevin has created a series of candid, one-on-one VIDEO interviews with 15 of the top raw and living food yummies on the planet and they'll be broadcast for us all to watch or listen to in a few days, starting on Sunday October the 19th.
I'm sad to say that I was not able to join Mr. Gianni for a recording this time round, as I am still waiting for my Fiancee paperwork for the US and could not get there to meet him ;( The Monarch did an interview though and we will also both be doing a phone interview at the end of the Rawkathon with Kevin, sometime around the end of October...more details to come... ;)

Just like with the Raw Summits, everyone can watch/listen to these Rawkathon interviews for fr@e, then afterwards you can also buy DVD packages of the interviews for future viewing/sharing...

Just register now and you'll be sent information on how you can be a part of "raw food history"... ;)
Right now the project is set to release on October the 19th and is only broadcast for one week...so...

Winner of ‘SunFood Living’

The blessed winner of the last RawReform Giveaway Contest was: Gwynne Heard

CONGRATS, GWYNNE :)

We asked:
'If you could live anywhere in the world as a healthy, happy raw foodist, where would it be and why...?'

Gwynne answered:
When I first read this question places like Belize and the Antiguas, Jamaica and such all came to mind and then I remembered that happiness is a package deal with the soul and it really does not matter where I live.  I have gone to and fro and totally enjoyed myself but where I always like to come back to is home.  We built our own house from the ground up and we live in a little community in Northern California.  It has little traffic, you can get anywhere in 15 minutes, you can get out of town in no time and be in the absolute beautiful country.  I have a wonderful support group of people and if ever in need would have more than enough help. We have 4 seasons and I love every one of them.
I would like to be in a better area than where we built the house so I could have a ga rden and solar power again but we have a wonderful Farmer's Market and the solar power?  Well another time, another place.
I read a book once about the Neskalaquin Eskimos and the thing the writer was most surprised about was that if they had a choice where would they live?  Comfortably and happily in their own skins.  Me?  I think that is a great place to live.
Gwynne

Thanks, Gwynne for sharing your dreams :) Your copy of John McCabe’s wonderful ‘SunFood Living’ Directory book is on its way to you...
If you haven't yet downloaded the fr@e 28-page 'Global Raw Food Resources' list from Mr. McCabe, you can also do that HERE.
Thanks to ALL of you who sent in entries for this giveaway contest – there were lots of fabulous answers...these seemed to come out as the top picks for destinations:

Hawaii, California, Canada (various locations), Costa Rica

If you’d like to see a big selection of the messages sent in, you can check them out on the RawReform Giveaway Prizes page HERE.

Raw Recipe –Almond Dream Bar :)

Ooooo my goodness, that Mr. Monarch must have had his very shiniest chef’s hat on this last month or so – he’s created SO many amazing new edibles...
Here is one of his most DELICIOUS yummies to try out for yourself: ‘Almond Dream Bar’. He very graciously also showed us how to make this treat, with a live 8-minute VIDEO demo, which you can see here ;)

Almond Dream Bar Recipe

8 oz of raw almond butter
7 oz of raw coconut oil
1/4 cup of lucuma powder
Puree these three ingredients together in a food processor.

Add sprouted/dehydrated buckwheat and goji berries to taste.
Pulse them into mixture briefly, just to mix them in.
Place mixture into container(s), then into the fridge to harden up. Let pieces of this divine mixture melt-in-your-mouth for outrageous yumminess ;)

WOW. This can be made with different nut/seed butters to your taste – tahini is yummy, as is hazelnut and I'm sure macadamia would be GREAT too. This recipe was originally inspired by the ‘almond dream bars’ served at Live Café in Toronto. I loved this dessert SO much that the Monarch felt he simply must re-create it. They use agave though and I’m not much into sugar-spikes anymore, so he uses low glycemic lucuma powder instead. The buckwheaties and goji berries are not ESSENTIAL – you could just make a solid bar, if you prefer, with no ‘bits’ in – I just LOVE the texture they add...Mmmmmmmmm ;) ENJOY :)

Loving YOUR Raw Emotions

We’re still patiently waiting for my latest book, Raw Emotions, to go to print. It is now in the hands of a ‘professional editor’ being jangled into suitable form – ooooo lala ;). We hope to have it in the hands of the printers in about 3-4 weeks’ time... In the meantime, remember that you can always download the e-book version to read for now. Here’s what people have been saying and a new excerpt:

I have read your new book Raw Emotions, I have to say that it is the best raw food book I have ever read so far (and I have read many :), you have done such an amazing job and I could totally relate to everything you have gone through. Very, very good job! Thank you so much! Sara

----------
Raw Emotions should be out in Borders and everywhere in print form - it is the absolute best thing i have read on helping someone towards a raw mindset! it is beautiful, spiritual, practical, and i love it! thank you! so worth more than i paid for it. a wealth of LIFE. Amy

-------------------------

Here’s an excerpt from the book:

“Not all foods are physiologically addictive. There are many natural, delicious and healthy options available. Fresh, living, raw foods like pears, broccoli and alfalfa, for example, are not usually linked to physical dependence. How many people do you see with a chronic kale addiction…? Switching over to a mainly raw food lifestyle can therefore make a huge difference for people in terms of liberating them from compulsive eating. Take away the toxic foods you’re addicted to and you’re half-way to freedom.

However, because raw foods simply don’t ‘tick the same boxes’ in terms of addictive properties, if your diet has been highly processed until now, switching over to mainly or totally raw can feel quite harsh in the beginning. Raw foods don’t create those drugged responses in our body we have come to associate with comfort, reward or satisfaction. Suddenly the coping mechanisms we’ve been using to deal with discomfort for decades are GONE. We might liken this to being on anti-depressant medication for 34 years, then suddenly removing it – it’s quite a shock to the system. It’s like having a safety net pulled out from under your feet or the smoky veil of processed food addiction grabbed down from before your eyes. Whichever way you look at it, the new landscape can seem pretty challenging. The ‘comfort’ element of eating is largely gone and we find ourselves, for perhaps the first time ever, actually feeling our emotional discomfort directly, rather than using food to self-medicate (shoving it down, finding ‘comfort’ and ignoring our feelings). As mentioned above, we might reach out for heavier raw foods like masses of nuts, seeds, raw pizza and so on to try to bridge that gap, yet even these don’t sedate us in quite the same way as our old toxic food ‘friends’.

Many people find this kind of shift very confrontational and are not sure how to handle the changes. They may feel impassioned about transforming their health, yet where do they find ‘comfort’ now, if food seems to no longer offer sanctuary?

It’s easy to see here that the psychological aspects of food addiction certainly aren’t guaranteed to vanish simply from going raw. For many, this part of the healing process can actually seem like a bigger issue to deal with than moving through the physical elements of withdrawal.

It’s time for some major re-programming to release yourself from reliance on food as your ‘safety net’ and to start finding other things in your life that feel rewarding, satisfying and comforting to you, beyond the food. Remember, the menu of life is abundant with positive possibilities. This is where all the tips shared on the following pages come in - you can get ACTIVE to turn things around for yourself. The fresh foods can help you to an extent, then action on the emotional/spiritual aspects is what will really help you to move on and heal on all levels.”

You can get hold of Raw Emotions as an e-book HERE – enjoy :)

New Products - I'm in love with Soignee ;O

WOW, I am in LOVE. I am feeling totally ADDICTED to the new shampoo and conditioner we have from Soignee ;) LOL...I have never felt so attached to a beauty product before... I heard a woman talking once about how she felt ‘addicted’ to using one brand of ‘natural hair care’ products. I smiled, yet couldn’t really relate, as she enthusiastically recounted how excited she would be to go for a shower, just so that she could use the products and smell their luscious smells... Well, now I’m finding that I CAN actually resonate with that feeling, when I use the Soignee products. They are TRULY amazing – I’ve never used anything like them on my hair...they smell like CHOCOLATE and are sooooooOOoOooooooo rich and creamy and smooooooooooth – my hair feels like silk during and after using them... I feel like I sound like an 1980s shampoo ad right now ;) LOL – it’s all true though – I LOVE these products and feel like I’d love to never use anything else on my hair again (other than ceasing using any products at ALL, of course ;) I had no real interest in these products at first, yet our customer service gals tried out some samples and were SO excited abt them that they INSISTED we start carrying them in our stores. They even actually ordered the products and added them to the website themselves (unheard of ;), just to be CERTAIN we have them ;) That’s the power of the Soignee line... Here’s some of the official blurb abt them:

“Enriched with soy and wheat proteins, vitamins, herbal extracts, and essential oils. MSM and Panthenol help restore a radiant beauty to all hair types, especially chemically treated or damaged hair. It is gentle enough for everyday use. Soignée MSM Shampoo contains NO Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, methylparaben, propylparaben, alcohols, chemical foaming agents or preservatives, and is hypoallergenic.”

I also hear that their Wrinkle Crème product is outstanding too – I haven’t tried that yet, or the facial crème, facial wash or night crème...we have them all in the RawReform store though - check them out HERE if you’d love some yummy treats for your OUTER body... ;)
ENJOOOOOY :)

Giveaway Contest - win 'Try It On Everything' DVD

Have you ever tried EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)? If not, it is a simple and easy to learn, fast-acting healing technique that involves tapping places on your body with your fingertips, to release stagnant or uncomfortable energy and emotions in those circuits. EFT works with the subtle meridian lines of energy that run through the body, as used in acupuncture, although in EFT there is no use of needles – just your fingertips. EFT can be used to find relief for emotional discomfort of any kind – from handling food cravings, to road rage, to painful memories, to managing a broken limb.
I was introduced to EFT by a dear friend, at a point when my life felt very much in ‘crisis’. It is a superb tool and often felt like a ‘lifesaver’ for me, to get through that period. There is a basic tapping sequence to learn, along with a few accompanying things to say, to help focus your attention on the issue you’re currently experiencing. All the basics of EFT can be easily learnt using the fr@e manual that you can download at www.emofree.com.

One motto of EFT is ‘try it on everything’ and one advocate, Nick Ortner, has now brought out a wonderful documentary DVD of that same name, showing JUST how transformational EFT can be for people. You can get a opy of the DVD HERE.
If you'd love to win a FR@E copy of Nick's DVD, just send in your A to the following Q:

"If you could lovingly heal any aspect of your life right now (or that of someone else), what would it be and why?"

Please send your answer to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will naturally send love and healing energy to all those mentioned in the messages and the winner of the DVD will be chosen at random and announced in the next newsletter.
THANKS and happy tapping ;)

I hope you enjoyed this newsletter and that you're feeling loved, supported, inspired and enthused for your OWN yummy raw path (... and don't forget to grab some goodies at 25% OFF HERE, if that helps to fuel your excitement ;)

ENJOY,
All love,
