HELLO and welcome to the long-awaited, first ever RAWREFORM newsletter.

In this issue:

  • Book news
  • Info on important pro-vegan lifestyle support in 'The China Study'
  • Delicious Carob Delight recipe

In these regular updates from the world of raw foods and weight loss, I will be bringing you exciting news and tips for how to get raw, stay raw and enjoy your new lifestyle.

This is an exciting time for me - not only is it spring, my favourite season, but in a few weeks time it will be 3 years since I first went raw and started my personal transformation. So I'm feeling very inspired about all things raw at the moment and want to share some of that enthusiasm with you.

Book News

Research and work for my upcoming book on how to transition to raw foods for overeaters is going very well. I have already received a prestigious award for the piece, presented at the House of Lords in London last month, so it is well on its way to success in helping others to handle overeating with a high raw lifestyle - the healthiest path available. I'll keep you informed of progress as it gets nearer to publication. Below are a couple of pictures of the award day:

The China Study

In other book news, if you have not already heard about the incredible piece 'The China Study', by Dr T. Colin Campbell, which was just published earlier this year, you're in for a real treat. This volume is a truly significant piece of work in the field of nutrition, set to turn completely on its head the accepted mainstream lifestyle of animal-based diets and reliance on allopathic medicines to cure the diseases spread by poor nutrition. The research behind the book is completely unique - spanning over 35 years and 65 different countries, it has been labelled 'the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted'. The results were very clear; in the words of Dr Campbell himself:

"...people who ate the most animal-based food got the most chronic disease...People who ate the most plant-based foods were the healthiest and tended to avoid chronic disease. These results could not be ignored..."

Dr Campbell makes no bones about the fact that the distinction between making a profit and promoting health has become completely blurred in our western societies. Lack of information and more significantly, mis information from the societal structures whose role is supposedly to protect health - especially those in medical professions - helps to keep people ill and caught up in a perceived reliance on expensive drugs. Dr. Campbell emphasises that the single-most effective course of action for both disease prevention and also disease reversal is a move to a plant-based diet. He states:

"I have come to see that the benefits produced by eating a plant-based diet are far more diverse and impressive than any drug or surgery used in medical practice. Those in science or medicine who shut their minds to such an idea are being more than stubborn; they are being irresponsible."

I believe the publication of this book and the wide-spread attention and interest it is generating is going to do wonders for jolting into consciousness the minds of the multitudes that still follow standard, degenerative diets. Many more people will start to realise the benefits of a high-raw lifestyle for outstanding health. This is great news indeed for the raw food movement and for all those interested in real health and nutrition. I highly recommend checking out this extraordinary publication - you can read more about it HERE.

Delicious Treats

I'm currently working on the recipe section for my book, so have been spending a lot of time experimenting in the kitchen with different ideas. I'm aiming to compile a collection of very easy to prepare, tasty recipes to help people feel grounded from the beginning in this new lifestyle. Here is a sneak preview of one of the tastiest dishes so far - Carob Delight. This is a lovely, simple, delicious treat to make to use up leftover 'pulp' from making nut/seed milk. (N.B. the quantities are purposefully vague so that you can adjust the recipe to the amount of leftovers you have - just remember to use twice as much coconut as leftovers.)

Carob Delight

1 measure almond/sesame pulp (leftover from making nut/seed milk)

2 measures coconut fat/creamed coconut

1 measure carob powder

handful of dried apricots

handful of sultanas

flesh of one satsuma

? tsp vanilla

Blend all ingredients together. Spread out in a flat dish, leave to cool in the fridge until it has a fudge-like consistency. Enjoy.

I hope you've enjoyed this first newsletter from RawReform. I'll continue to send out updates on a regular basis, but in the meantime,

Wishing you the very best of luck with your raw journey,

Stay healthy,

Angela. xxx
