The Insight, October 2005: 'Raw Goodness' by Nicola McLarnon PDF Print E-mail

The raw food revolution is coming to town, and one local resident has already reaped the benefits.

'Angela Stokes thinks Brighton could become the raw food capital of Britain - and she could be right. The 27-year-old has seen first-hand how a raw diet can change your life, both physically and mentally. After shedding 11 stone, as well as a life of secrecy, denial and depression, Angela is delighted Brighton's raw food scene is blossoming.'

'Eating raw food not only helps you lose weight and reform your health, it makes you more active and vibrant - which is what Brighton's all about.'

'Angela, now 9 stone 9lbs and a size 8-10, says the best part is she loves the food. Instead of calorie-loaded meals, Angela enjoys food like fruit, cold soup, salad, nuts and chocolate. Yes, you heard right. Angela pacifies her sweet tooth with chocolate bars made from raw cacao nibs from Peru. 'At Raw Living we sell ones with Brazil nuts or orange oil and seeds', she says. 'They are really sweet and a natural aphrodisiac.'
